'She left me roses by the stairs. . .'
Grumbling a little, Karkat walked downstairs to see his older brother going through mail. Seeing Kankri after just having woken up at 10 AM usually meant a rather lengthy lecture, but apparently today was different.
"Oh, Karkat. You're finally awake." The older Vantas sibling muses, a slight judging tone.
Karkat didn't reply, deeming it too early to try and form a snarky comeback. Instead he let his attention fall on the beautiful red roses that lay near the stairs. They looked so elegant, yet so out of place with everything else.
"[Name] came by. She was in a hurry, but she left you roses." Kankri stated, walking off to probably go email friends or update one of his blogs.
Shock was evident on the young brunette's face, with his mouth slightly ajar and blue-green eyes wide. He slowly walked over to the flowers, gently picking them up. The shocked expression soon turned soft as the young male caught the loving scent of the roses. Raising a brow when he noticed a small piece of paper fall out of the flowers, Karkat bent down and picked it up. It was just a small note from [Name], saying the simple, yet sweet, 'I love you' and mentioning a few silly things. It even had a little doodle of a crab on it.
Chuckling softly to himself, Karkat walked back up to his room. He set the roses down on his bed once he reached his destination, grabbed his cellphone and sat at his desk. Dialing the ever-familiar number, he waited for his beloved girlfriend to answer.
And after a few rings - she did.
"Hey [Name]. . . . I got the roses."
'. . . surprises let me know she cares.'
