Haruka Nanase x GN! Friend! Reader - Bad Day

[A/N: GN means Gender Neutral, but it just means the gender isn't specified here. Sorry I'm half asleep and can't remember a proper word for it and googling is a pain right now.]


You felt terrible.
Your day was terrible.

Late to school, scolded by your teacher.
Half-asleep, sudden pop-quiz.
Skipped breakfast, forgot lunch at home.
Walking home, tripped and nearly bruised your face.

It just wasn't your day, hell your week wasn't going so great either.

Which is why you needed a pick-me-up. And you knew just the guy to help you.

Skipping the front door, you quickly walked in through the back. Walking into the kitchen, you leaned onto the blue-eyed swimmer's back as he cooked. He didn't seem at all fazed, keeping his usual blank face as he waited for the mackerel to finish cooking.

After a few minutes, the male shifted until your face was in his chest instead of his back. He had been careful while moving, making sure to not let you fall. He was already pretty used to this.

"Taste this?" His voice, while still fairly monotone, held a questioning sense.

Lifting your face you saw Haruka holding up a piece of mackerel between two chopsticks. Leaning up, you graciously took the fish. Chewing slowly, you savored the taste of the perfectly seasoned dish before swallowing. With a nod of approval, you used the little burst of energy the mackerel had given you to move yourself away from the blue-eyed teen and over to his table. Listening to the sounds of dishes gently clattering, you waited for your friend to come out with food.

Moments later, a plate of mackerel and a bowl of fresh, steaming rice was in front of you and an emotionless swimmer sat beside you. Smiling warmly, you thanked Haruka for the food before quickly digging in. Nothing like a warm, home cooked meal to put you in good spirits!

After you had both finished eating and Haruka had finished cleaning the dishes, you had decided a nap was in order.

"The spare futon is airing out right now."

"Can I sleep next to you then?"

"Sure."

With that being said, you had managed to pick yourself up and drag your dreary body up the stairs of the Nanase household, towards Haruka's bedroom. Once inside said room, you flopped onto the bed, not even attempting to move the cover as you did so.

Haruka came in after you, and seeing your half-asleep state, pushed you over a little and pulled the comforter out from underneath your body. Slipping in next to you, the raven-haired boy pulled the warm blanket over the both of you. Using what little energy you had left, you pushed yourself closer to your warm friend, sighing tiredly.

"Bad day?"

"One like you wouldn't believe."

"Sleep for as long as you need to."

"Don't need to tell me twice."

"Goodnight, [Name]."

"Good night, and thanks Haru. For everything. . ."

With that, you gave into exhaustion and allowed yourself to fall into a deep slumber. All in the ever-so-warm embrace of your dearest friend.

"It's fine. Tomorrow is Sunday."

"Yeah, true. Can I sleep over? My house is too far away."

"Fine by me, but your house is only like ten feet away."

"Like I said, too far away."

"Go back to sleep, [Name]"

"Okay, but I call little spoon."

"Yay!"
